Hi, I'm Jacky Liu.

Let me show you the Shenzhen I love.

I've lived here for 14 years.

Local hikes, real conversations, and a different side of Shenzhen — with Jacky Liu.

Why this little site exists

For more than a decade, I've worked with people from different countries through China's manufacturing and new-energy industries.

A lot of those conversations happened in offices, factories, exhibition halls and hotel lobbies.

But some of the best conversations I've had happened while walking. There's something about moving side by side — without a presentation, a meeting agenda or a table between you — that makes people more open and curious.

That's really how Hike Shenzhen started.

A mountain. A few hours. Good conversation. And a completely different side of the city.

A few places I keep returning to

I've walked most of Shenzhen's better-known mountain and coastal routes. But I don't think every hike needs to be a challenge.

The right trail depends on the person, the weather, how much time we have — and sometimes simply what kind of mood we're in.

Where the mountains meet the sea

Eastern Shenzhen can feel like another world — green ridges, open water and long stretches where the city disappears.

Waterfall cascading through lush green forest

The unusual corners

Rocky coastlines, sea caves and rougher trails are the places that still make me feel I'm discovering Shenzhen again.

The trail that fits the day

Sometimes I'm happy to walk all day. Sometimes a relaxed half-day, a good view and a long lunch make a much better memory.

Walk & Talk Shenzhen

Some of the best conversations happen after the meeting is over.

If you're in Shenzhen for work, you've probably already spent enough time in meeting rooms.

Come outside.

We can talk about China, manufacturing, technology, batteries, business culture, travel, family, life — whatever comes naturally.

I'll share what I've experienced. I'd also genuinely like to hear how you see China from the outside.

Or we can simply walk.

No presentation. No fixed script. No need to "network."

Just a good hike and a real conversation.

What I bring to the trail

I notice the practical details.

Years in procurement, product management and international sales taught me to think ahead and solve problems before they become problems.

On a hike, that means I care about the route, transport, weather, water, pace and how everyone is actually feeling.

I'm curious about people.

Working across cultures — and traveling independently through Asia, the US and Europe — made me interested in how people see Shenzhen, China and life here.

I probably have as many questions for you as you have for me.

I don't need to impress you.

I enjoy hard routes and long days outside.

But your hike isn't about my fitness. If a quieter trail, a good view and an easy conversation make a better day, that's what we should do.

What happens next?

01

Tell me about your day.

When you're coming, how much time you have, and what kind of day sounds good.

02

I'll suggest a route.

I'll consider your fitness, the weather, transport and what you actually want from the day.

03

Then we go walk.

No fixed tour script. Just a route that makes sense and a good day outside.

Coming to Shenzhen?

Tell me when you'll be here, how much time you have, and what kind of day you have in mind.
