Hikes

Don't start with a trail name.

Start with the kind of day you want.

Shenzhen has far more variety than most visitors expect.

Forested mountains. City viewpoints. Rocky coastlines. Quiet valleys. And routes long enough to make you question why you agreed to come with me.

I've walked most of the better-known trails around Shenzhen. My job isn't to take everyone to the hardest one.

It's to choose a day that fits you.

Mountains & big views

For people who enjoy climbing, forests and earning the view.

Coastlines & unusual terrain

For people who want to see a side of Shenzhen that feels far removed from the city.

Long days & real challenges

For experienced hikers who genuinely enjoy endurance.

I'm comfortable with demanding days, but I'll tell you directly if I think a route is a bad fit for the weather, your available time or your current fitness.

A few routes I know well

I've walked most of Shenzhen's better-known mountain and coastal routes. These are a few places I often think about first — but the right one depends on the person, the weather and the day.

Wutong Mountain

A classic Shenzhen mountain day — forest climbing, a proper workout and big views over the city.

Qiniang Mountain

One of my favorite choices for big mountain and sea views around the Dapeng Peninsula. Better for people comfortable with a real climb.

Dongxichong Coast

Rocky coastline, open sea and a very different side of Shenzhen. More about terrain and scenery than a traditional mountain summit.

Maluan Mountain

Forests, waterfalls and a gentler outdoor day. A good option when the goal is scenery rather than pushing hard.

Meishajian

A satisfying climb with wide views across eastern Shenzhen — good when you want a shorter but still meaningful mountain day.

Not sure which one fits? Tell me how much time you have and what kind of day you want. I'll suggest one honestly.

Need help getting there?

Depending on the route and your location in Shenzhen, I may also be able to arrange pickup and drop-off for the hike.

How I choose a route

Before I suggest anything, I want to know a few practical things:

  • how much time you have
  • how often you normally exercise
  • whether you actually hike
  • what shoes you brought
  • how you handle heat and humidity
  • whether scrambling sounds fun or terrible
  • whether you want exercise, scenery or conversation

I also look at weather, transport and trail conditions. Sometimes the "best trail in Shenzhen" on the internet is not the best trail for that particular day.

Not sure what fits?

Good. You don't need to know. That's my part.

Tell me how much time you have and what kind of day sounds good. I'll suggest something honestly.
